Kieran Edwards is currently training with Ormiston Teacher Training in Norfolk and has already completed two of his three placements in Ormiston schools. This September, he will be joining Cliff Park Ormiston Academy as a newly qualified English teacher.
Kieran’s drive to teach stems from a deep belief in the transformative power of education, he now wants to be that role model for others, especially students who may not yet see themselves reflected in the classroom.
Returning to train in the schools he once attended has been both challenging and meaningful: “It’s been such a full-circle moment. Being back, this time as a teacher, has shown me the huge impact school staff can have. Of course, there have been hard days, but you can’t let that affect the children and their right to learn.”
Kieran chose Ormiston Teacher Training and the Norfolk campus because of the influence of a former teacher, Amy Smith now a senior leader who inspired him and knew it was the right place for him. His training journey has included a wide range of practical and structured support, from behaviour strategies to curriculum planning, all tailored to real-world classroom situations.
Throughout, Kieran has kept his focus on students, building strong relationships and never losing sight of his purpose. He’s honest about the pressures, like forgetting names or feeling self-critical but he’s also quick to reassure others.
Kieran is passionate about supporting future trainees too and is already thinking bigger. “There’s so much I wish I’d known – trainees need to hear that they’re not alone.”
“Teaching is one of the few careers where you can make a real difference every day.”
