Eleanor Turner
Eleanor, found that Drama has always been more than a subject – it’s been a place of confidence, creativity and belonging. Now training to teach Drama at Ormiston Sudbury Academy with Ormiston Teacher Training, she is determined to create that same safe and inspiring space for the next generation of students.
Growing up, one teacher left a lasting impression on Eleanor.

“They created a supportive environment where I felt encouraged to take risks, express myself and believe in what I could do,” she explains. “That experience stayed with me, and it’s a big part of why I knew I wanted to teach.”
With a background in Musical Theatre and years of performance experience, Eleanor understands first-hand the transformative power of the arts. Performing helped shape her confidence and sense of identity, and she now channels that experience into her teaching practice. Throughout her training at Ormiston Sudbury Academy, Eleanor has witnessed that transformation happening in her own classroom. Whether through rehearsals, performances or everyday Drama lessons, she has seen students develop skills that extend far beyond the stage.
“I’ve watched students grow in confidence, communication and teamwork,” she says. “Those moments when a shy student steps forward or when a group works together to create something they’re proud of – that’s exactly what motivates me.”
Teaching helps to create stars for the future
For Eleanor, Drama is not only about performance techniques or scripted lines. It is about creating a classroom culture built on trust, inclusion and encouragement. She is passionate about ensuring every student feels seen and valued, regardless of their starting point. As she continues her journey towards becoming a qualified teacher, Eleanor is focused on developing engaging, high-quality Drama lessons that inspire creativity and resilience. Her ambition is to contribute not only to students’ academic progress, but to their personal growth and equipping them with communication skills, empathy and self-belief that will support them long after they leave school.
“Drama gives young people the opportunity to step into someone else’s shoes, to work as a team and to take creative risks,” she says. “If I can help even one student discover confidence in themselves through my classroom, then I know I’m doing the job I was meant to do.”
Through her passion for the arts and her commitment to nurturing student potential, Eleanor is already making her mark at Ormiston Sudbury Academy and creating a space where every student has the opportunity to shine.
“Drama can change the way young people see themselves, and I’m passionate about creating a classroom where every student feels valued, included, and capable of achieving something amazing.”
