Tia Bayly

Former Ormiston Sudbury Academy student Tia Bayly, 22, has now completed her teacher training with Ormiston Teacher Training and is now teaching at same school where her journey began. Growing up in Suffolk, Tia’s passion for the performing arts shaped her path early on, leading her to complete a degree in dance and choreography before pursuing a teaching career.

After spending time teaching at local schools and her dance school, Tia realised she wanted to inspire young people in the same way her own teachers had inspired her. With encouragement from those who taught her at school, she saw how dance, drama and music could empower students to express themselves, gain confidence and discover their potential.

“I want every student to have the chance to get involved, be creative, and find joy in what they can achieve – no matter their ability.”

For Tia, the most rewarding part of teaching dance and PE is the opportunity to see students develop practical skills that benefit them beyond the classroom. She believes strongly in the value of movement and creativity for building teamwork, resilience and a healthy lifestyle. Her lessons are centred on giving every student the confidence to try new things and believe in themselves.

Choosing Ormiston Teacher Training through the NIOT partnership was an easy decision for Tia. The course’s hands-on structure allowed her to be fully immersed in school life from the start—participating in lessons, extra-curricular clubs, sports fixtures and performances. She says this experience helped her understand every aspect of teaching and the daily rewards it brings.

Throughout her training, Tia benefited from the dedicated support of tutors, mentors and fellow trainees, describing their encouragement as invaluable in helping her grow professionally and personally.

“The best part of teaching is watching students grow – not just in skill, but in belief in themselves. Helping them see their potential is why I teach.”

Now a qualified teacher, Tia is looking forward to continuing her journey in education, bringing her creativity, enthusiasm and commitment to every lesson. She hopes to inspire the next generation to be active, confident and expressive – and to find their own love for the arts, just as she did.
