Ormiston Teacher Training (OTT) is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 2025–26 cohort. We’re excited to welcome passionate, community-minded individuals ready to take their first step into teaching.
A message from Kaye Patrick, Director of Initial Teacher Training at Ormiston Academies Trust, shares her thoughts on what makes the programme so special: “Every year, I’m inspired by the people who choose to train with us – individuals committed to making a real difference in their communities and developing into confident, skilled educators. At Ormiston Teacher Training, you’ll be in the classroom from day one, learning alongside experienced practitioners who will guide and support you every step of the way. We don’t just teach theory – we help you apply it in real classrooms, with real students, so you can grow as a teacher while making a meaningful impact.”
Why train with Ormiston Teacher Training?
OTT offers a unique, school-based route into teaching, delivered in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT). Trainees are placed in one of regional campuses, with access to Ormiston and partnership schools, where they receive tailored support and professional development grounded in the needs of local schools.
The NIoT is a national, flagship teacher training provider, operating across England in partnership with a network of Associate Colleges. Building on Ormiston Academies Trust’s extensive experience in teacher development, OTT offers a school-centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme, designed to integrate evidence-informed practice with real classroom experience.
Our training is research-informed and rooted in what truly makes an excellent teacher. From day one, trainees join a vibrant network of educators, mentors, and leaders – all committed to helping them succeed. As Kaye explains:
“We believe in training teachers where they’re needed most. Our approach ensures that you’re applying what you learn in real classrooms, supported by experienced practitioners, while developing the skills, confidence, and curiosity that will sustain your career.”
